A Patagonia Sub-Brand
The Forager family of products was a project created as part of a team of designers. We had to create our own brief that would tackle a larger macro-issue and also be something that would be appealing to the company we chose to create the sub-brand for.
We decided to tackle the issue of health and wellbeing by encouraging more people to spend time outdoors foraging natural foods, be crucially the products we created had to help protect nature as well. This sense of balance is something that Patagonia is very active in supporting.

Origami inspired folding method
The handheld scanner provides valuable safety information to the user on wind-speed and GPS location to make sure the area is safe to proceed. The device can also be used as a beacon to aid rescue services in an emergency situation.
The mat folds ups to 1/8 of the size to be easily carried in a backpack, then when in use provides provides a heatproof layer between the fire and the ground to stop scorching and damage to the environment. It is constructed from a combination of high temperature fabric that sandwiched heatproof solid plates.
